The Role

The Analytics team at AHADI is looking for great people with strong quantitative skills and an interest in using modeling to support priority-setting and decision-making in countries with high disease burden. This position will have a primary work area of applying malaria models to predict the impact of intervention scenarios in the context of national malaria programs’ strategic planning and prioritization processes.

We are looking for a scientist with strong scripting skills, a keen curiosity, and a proactive approach to solving problems. Previous malaria or infectious disease experience is a plus, but not required. Previous mathematical modeling experience is also not required, especially if scripting and other quantitative skills are strong.

AHADI’s analytics team analyzes field, trial, survey, and routine health system data; develops, configures, calibrates, and applies disease transmission and geospatial models; and designs and builds new data and analytics solutions to answer questions aimed at informing public health decision-making. The team supports training, educational, and skills development initiatives offered by AHADI or our partners and is actively engaged with the broader health analytics community.

AHADI is a values-driven organization, where our team members care deeply about enabling self-reliance in public health analytics in Africa. We believe that using analytics and systems thinking to design systems level solutions are essential for reducing disease burden, and we embrace our role of working for countries. AHADI is committed to creating an open and collaborative workplace where all can learn and thrive.

  • Writes software code (in Python and/or R) to implement model features and analyze data
  • Conducts literature searches and analyzes field, clinical trial, survey, and/or routine health system reporting data to assemble appropriate input, calibration, and validation data for the models
  • Collects, analyzes, and presents data on model results and performance
  • Prepares reports and presentations to effectively communicate methods and findings to stakeholders, including ministries of health and other partners
  • Trains, supervises, and collaborates with partner individuals and institutions to support upskilling of local modeler talent

Other responsibilities may include:
