Overview
AHADI is working with national malaria programmes to inform their subnational tailoring of malaria interventions (SNT) as they revise their national strategic plans and prioritize malaria resources.
SNT is the use of local data and contextual information to determine the appropriate mixes of interventions and strategies for a given area, with the goal of achieving optimum impact on transmission and burden of disease.
AHADI supports countries to navigate the SNT process and execute analytical steps, focusing on effective delivery and strengthening institutional capacity:
Organizing the evidence
- Planning and preparedness: Identify SNT needs for the next funding cycle and beyond, establish team roles and responsibilities, and support planning and preparedness
- Data assembly and management: Collect, organize, geocode, and manage subnational data
- Situation reviews: Conduct programmatic reviews and impact assessments
Designing and prioritizing
- Stratification and intervention targeting: Define criteria and methods for stratifying and tailoring interventions subnationally
- Scenario impact modeling for national strategic plan: Calibrate and apply simulation models to national data to assess impacts of different intervention mix scenarios
- Prioritization within available resources: Develop options to prioritize interventions within available resources
Resourcing and delivery
- Draft national strategic plans based on SNT and develop funding requests aligned with prioritized plan
- Support countries in mock technical review panel: assist countries in analysis before and after mock technical review panel sessions
- Support countries to respond to technical review panel reviews: assist countries to respond to Global Fund technical review panel reviews, reprioritization, and reprogramming
AHADI also provides training in operationalization and implementation of SNT through our On-Demand Training program, covering any or all of the modules listed above, according to national needs.
